7×2 Treated Timber 3.6m Applications

Carcassing timber is a kiln-dried treated softwood with a structural grading that is commonly used in construction projects requiring a grading stamp. Its versatility allows for both internal and external applications, and it is widely employed in floor joists, roof joists, and timber framing construction.

No matter the application, cutting treated timber to the desired size is relatively easy for your project. However, always use appropriate power tools, eye protection, and a respirator when undertaking such tasks.

Carcassing timber is commonly used in the following building applications:

  • Stud walls
  • Joists for roofs, floors, and decking
  • Structural and general joinery applications
  • Timber framing construction

  • Regularised with an eased edge for added convenience
  • Pressure treated with Tanalith ‘E’ to prevent rot and protect against direct moisture contact

What Does C24 Carcassing Timber Mean?

C24 grade timber surpasses C16 in terms of strength and contains more knots than lower-graded timbers. This makes it ideal for tasks that require durability and sturdiness, particularly structural applications like floor joists or roof battens.

C24 timber is a premium choice capable of supporting higher loads and wider spans. Only high-quality timber imported from regions with slower growth rates (resulting in a tighter grain) achieves the C24 grade.

Timber Sizing Explained

At Trade Timber, all the timber we offer undergoes treatment with preservatives, kiln drying, and planing on all four sides, resulting in an easi edge profile that facilitates easy handling. Our 7×2 timber is available in longer lengths of up to 6m.

Timber sizes are commonly referred to as either nominal or finished. Despite having a nominal size of 47mmx175mm, this product’s finished size measures 45mmx170mm. However, the difference is so negligible that it is often referred to simply as 47×175 or 7×2.
