What Does C24 Carcassing Timber Mean?

C24 grade surpasses C16 grade and offers increased strength, accompanied by more knots than lower graded timbers. This makes it particularly suitable for tasks that demand durability and sturdiness, such as floor joists or roof battens.

C24 timber stands as a premium choice, capable of supporting higher loads and wider spans. Only high-quality timber imported from regions where slower growth rates are dictated by weather conditions (resulting in tighter grain) can attain the coveted C24 grade.

Timber Sizing Explained

At Trade Timber, we prioritise the quality of our timber offerings. Therefore, all the timber we sell undergoes treatment with preservatives, followed by kiln drying and planing on all four sides, resulting in an easi edge profile that facilitates easy handling. Our 8 x 2 timber is available in longer lengths of up to 7.2m.

Timber sizes are often categorised as either nominal or finished. In the case of our product, with a nominal size of 47mmx200mm, the finished size measures 45mmx195mm. However, this negligible difference allows for common references such as 200 x 47mm, 47×200, or simply 8×2.
